Mesoestetic Pharma Group evaluates the application of cross-linked hyaluronic acid in rhino-modelling
The aesthetics of the nose is a fundamental part of the face’s look and consultations for changing the appearance of this area are becoming more frequent in medical centers. This is becoming such a trend that practitioners are perceiving a greater demand for techniques that improve the look of the nose and correct or mitigate some less aesthetic elements. However, patients are not only asking for traditional rhinoplasties but are also interested in non-surgical techniques: rhino-modelling. Facing this situation, mesoestetic Pharma Group has conducted a study that evaluates the application of cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) in rhino-modelling, a new, minimally invasive technique with immediate, visible effects. In sum, the application of cross-linked HA in rhino-modelling is a fast, simple and non-traumatic treatment for the patient.

To study the safety and effectiveness of rhino-modelling or correction of the imperfections of the nasal pyramid without the necessity to perform surgery. Correction of irregularities of the dorsal septum and tip of the nose through the injection of highly cross-linked substances, therefore obtaining a more straight, aesthetic profile.
Materials and methodology
Eleven volunteers, over 18 years old, participated in the study. They all presented anti-aesthetic elements in the nasal region, su sceptible to being corrected through the injection of cross-linked hyaluronic acid following different techniques depending on the facial analysis. Volunteers were split into groups according to their needs: correction of the dorsal septum and nasal bridge, nasion, supratip, tip and columella.
The treatment was carried out in 1 session of 30 minutes for each patient. 1 to 2 ml of cross-linked HA of 20 mg/ml (mesofiller® global) and/or 25 mg/ml (mesofiller® intense) were applied in the nose, depending on the face analysis.
Doctors used ultrasound control to verify the before and after results after the injection of HA, thus showing the post-injection situation and the correction obtained.
About mesofiller®: the materials used
mesofiller® is mesoestetic’s range of fillers containing top-quality cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Formulated with a monophasic gel (containing no free hyaluronic acid) of non-animal origin, it is fully resorbed and blends into the skin perfectly. The mesofiller® range is based on DENSIMATRIX® technology. A process enabling uniform crosslinking of 100% of hyaluronic acid chains, which allows greater durability and better resistance to degradation. Hyaluronic acid is subjected to a purification process which helps reduce residual BDDE (butanediol diglycidyl ether) levels to a minimum, guaranteeing maximum purity (the residual BDDE content is less than 0.001 parts per million). The low level of residual BDDE ensures lower toxicity, minimizing the risk of intolerance and side effects.
Conclusions and results
Efficiency — Clinical evaluation of the results showed the treatment’s efficiency in the correction of the dorsal and tip of the nose, as well as an improvement in the general look. In addition, evidence also shows an improvement in the corrections of the nasolabial angle, which usually presents a strong link with the anatomy of the patient’s nasal region.
Security — The injection of cross-linked hyaluronic acid for non-surgical rhinoplasties is a safe procedure, as long as a rigorous analysis of the anatomy of the patient’s nasal zone is done beforehand.
Satisfaction — All patients who received the treatment showed a great satisfaction with the results.
